The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners is taking applications for interested persons to fill two Fire Commissioner Seats serving the Myakka City Fire Control District.  Our District has two fire stations.  Myakka Station 1 is on Wauchula Road, and Myakka Station 2 is on State Road 70 at the south end of Verna Bethany Road.
There are two Commissioner seats that are up for appointment or reappointment on the volunteer baord with each seat being a four year term.  The Fire Board oversees the fire district with the authority to spend money, incur debt, as well as hire qualified fire personnel.  The Board meets monthly.  Seats are district 2 and 4.  Please call Myakka Station 2 and speak with Chief Cacchiotti to see if you live in one of the needed districts.  A Fire Commissioner must live in the district of the seat that they represent.
If you are interested in being a Fire Commissioner, please follow the link below to the Manatee County website and fill in the application.  You may want to print a copy to keep, and be sure to follow up that they recieved the form that you submitted.  Thank you for your interest.
