Volunteer Firefighter Brandon Gadberry in full bunker gear shows
children how to crawl below the smoke if caught in a fire. He
also familiarized them with the sounds of the SCBA system, (sounds like
Darth Vader, according to these kids!), masks and gear that
firefighters wear when they enter a burning home. Many times
children already frightened by fire, smoke and darkness, hide from
those that are there to save them. Fire Prevention day at the the
school provides lessons to all grades on how to prevent a fire,
and what to do if one should happen. MCFD appreciates the time
the school sets aside each year for these important and possibly life
saving lessons.
